A Mother’s Loss That Inspired a Mission to Save Lives
Maliya Foundation Healthcare Centre was founded in November 2021 by Ms. Mpindi Prossy Musasizi in loving memory of her mother, the late Maliya Naudo. The foundation was born from a deeply painful experience. Maliya Naudo became seriously ill, and her condition worsened rapidly. She struggled to breathe and lacked the oxygen she urgently needed. Unfortunately, the ambulance arrived late, and she passed away in the morning hours before she could receive the emergency care she needed.
Her death left a lasting impact on Prossy. She believed that her mother's life might have been saved if timely emergency medical services and transportation had been available when she needed them most. From this heartbreaking experience came a powerful vision: to help ensure that other families do not lose their loved ones simply because emergency medical care is not available in time.
In memory of her loving mother, Prossy founded Maliya Foundation Healthcare Centre to bring essential healthcare services closer to communities, particularly those that are underserved. The centre is committed to providing free and accessible healthcare, including maternal and general medical services, while helping ensure that patients receive timely care when they need it most.
What began as a daughter's response to an unimaginable loss has grown into a mission of compassion, service, and hope. Maliya Foundation Healthcare Centre continues to carry the name and memory of Maliya Naudo by working to save lives, support families, and make quality healthcare more accessible to those who need it.

Why We Were Established
Buyende District is one of Uganda's most underserved regions when it comes to healthcare. Long distances to the nearest hospital, shortages of medical supplies and high costs put essential care out of reach for many families.
Maliya Foundation was established to close this gap to bring healthcare closer to the people, to treat the most vulnerable with dignity, and to build a healthier future for the entire community.
